Summary Notes of the MAD-X meeting held on 16 December 2005

Present :

  • H.Burkhardt, H.Grote, A.Koschik, T.Risselada, F.Schmidt, P.Skowronski, F.Tecker

    1) New in Version 3.01.01 (FS) (slides in ppt)

  • THIN SOLENOID added in TWISS (FS). Waiting for special requirements by Frascati.

  • MAKETHIN: HB prefers edge focussing of dipoles to be modelled by the user (dipedge element), rather than making the makethin module even more complex. A warning message has now been included to tell the user to do so.

  • INPUT DECODING: HG has implemented a solution to detect input errors like "a = 2 b" (instead of "a = 2*b"), and issue a warning message. Unfortunately we don't have sufficient ressources to cover other types of mistakes.
HG confirms that while loop and macro definitions must be terminated with semicolons. The Web pages have been updated.

  • WINDOWS VERSION: After the meeting J.Jowett informed us that his Windows version 3.01.01 is now available.

    2) PTC (FS) (see above slides)

  • New program structure. Acceleration is being included.
  • Work on matching still going on.
  • Documentation available here

    3) A.O.B.

  • An updated list of Module Keepers (requested by FT) will be made available.
  • Eric McIntosh joined us for a small drink. He announced that he is retiring at the end of this year.
