DESCRIPTION

The SLIDAS is a stand-alone device that connects to the S-LINK connector of a ROMB. Its purpose is to test the ROMB at its S-LINK interface without having to set up a real S-LINK just for this task.

With the SLIDAS, the user can select among a wide variety of data patterns to transfer to the ROMB. The data patterns are choosable in terms of contents, length, bandwidth and error contents.

Hardware

15 February 1997 First versions of the PCB (680-1110-500) have been manufactured
28 February 1997 Version 1.0 of SLIDAS has been released.
11 April 1997 Version 2.0 of SLIDAS has been released. Fully functional ATLAS TRT ROD dataformat implemented
15 April 1997 Design files transferred to INCAA. Commercial production started
14 Aug 1997 Two boards received from INCAA. SLIDAS commercially available now
28 June 1999 Modifications will be made to reflect the latest ATLAS ROD dataformat and to add features for Read-Out Buffer performance testing
3 September 1999 Latest ATLAS ROD dataformat implemented. SLIDAS can send now datablocks at frequencies between 25 KHz and 150 KHz and has a built in trigger-counter.
January 2001 Being redesigned for 3V3 operation by NIKHEF
2 March 2001 CERN received 3V3 modified boards from NIKHEF for testing

Software

The SLIDAS is a stand-alone hardware device. No software is needed
28 October 1997 Added C-function in documentation that calculates the random data as generated by SLIDAS
