A Selection of OPAL Higgs Papers and Physics Notes
The OPAL SM Higgs selection and CL calculation methods
has been upgraded between
1999 Moriond EW and Y2K data taking start.
The mass reconstruction procedures, jet-pairing method in
4jet channel, and global selection scheme are the same as 189 GeV (1998).
In order to become familiar with the details of OPAL analyses,
see
-
189 GeV publication, and
-
Physics note for ICHEP 2000 Osaka for the analysis upgrade.
Two changes with respect to 189 GeV paper are
1) Missing energy channel selection was optimised
for high mass region, relax preselection and optimise LH-sel for high mass
Higgs; 2) CL calculation now use 2D analyses (mass vs LH-sel) for Emis, electron,
and muon channel. The selection in the 4-jet channel is the same as 189 GeV,
but after selection signal compatibility is checked with mass, b-tag, and
other 2 kinematic variables. The compatibility is checked for each Higgs mass
tested, and the test-mass dependent compatibility is the final discriminator
for the four-jet channel.
