Limits in the MSSM Benchmark Scenarios for the individual experiments without syst. errors
Tom Junk
4 July, 2001
Using the inputs available as of 25 June 2001 -- L3 has updated with a reprocessing
of the data and new Monte Carlo for both the hZ and hA, and OPAL has put in an hZ/hA
switch. Otherwise, no updates.
Notes:
-
Limits here are without syst. errors. Also diagonal limits are not the
mh and mA limits.
- There is an approximation in the expected CLs curve which assumes that
CLb is uniformly distributed in the background hypothesis, which is not true
for small background rates. Hence the expected CLs bands sometimes do not make much
sense, particularly at very high test-masses.
-
The mh-max scan is done separately for the four experiments and combined
-
Color-coding of scatterplots:
-
Yellow: points in the scan. Regions not covered with yellow
points are "theoretically inaccessible" or "unscanned"
-
Black: unexcluded points
-
Red: points with the median expected CLs very near 0.05. The
"expected limit"
-
Numerical limits follow the list of plots.
-
The new OPAL low-mA results are included in the OPAL-only scan but not
in the ADLO scans. The analysis and documentation are still in progress.
-
The rather significant dip in 1-CLb in OPAL's inputs on the diagonal is due to two
candidates in the 4jet hA search at ECM of approx 205 GeV, each with a very small
difference between the reconstructed mh and mA.
It is beyond our region of expected sensitivity so 1-CLb' does
not show the effect.
