NA50 Offline control of data taking
How to run a control job of data taking
- The script dimu is /afs.cern.ch/group/wf/bin, you just have to type : dimu rec mob , or more simply : mob
- The group-directory where one can find standard cradle and data for mob is /afs.cern.ch/group/wf/na50
- The group-directory where one can find the proposed car-file for mob is /afs.cern.ch/group/wf/na50 : for 1996 lead data control, the suggested car-file is dimurecl.car (dimurecl G)
- If mobyl.cra or mobyl.data cannot be found in your current directory, they will be copied from the group-directory
- Note that mobyl.cra and mobyl.data are frequently updated (Last update 20 oct 96)
The output files :
- The output files are at least mobylnn.output and mobylnn.hstore; mobylnn.hstore can be viewed using mobgen.kumac.
- Running with option TESTADC and a HSA card with -1 or -2 parameters will produce histogram files named detnn.hstore, where det is bh, tgt, calo, muld, zdc and trig; all detnn.hstore can be viewed using outmob.kumac.
- Running with option MOB willl produce one ntuple named nrun.hbk, where nrun is the run number. For users allowed to write into the group_directory, this ntuple will directly be stored into the /afs/cern.ch/group/wf/mobs directory.
- Everybody can find the individual nrun.hbk ntuples, as well as the sum of existing ntuples (named sum.hbk) in the directory \afs\cern.ch/group/wf/mobs; all ntuples can be viewed using mobntu.kumac.
- The group-directory where one can find the kumacs available to display the different output files is /afs.cern.ch/group/wf/mobs
Things to control :
- General features :
- ============== magnetic field (see general histogram, number 100)
- ============== beam momentum
- ============== trigger type and subtype
- ============== target material and pattern
- ============== Number of bursts per burst (should be 1, if not, a WARNING is written during event processing).
- ============== Total of RMH errors and rejections
- ============== Number of ZDC (10%) and laser triggers (25 per burst?), as compared with dimuon triggers
- Scalers :
- Check at least the so-called important scalers (intensities and luminosities),
then BH efficiency (plane 1 only) and T0J/TSJ ratio (about 86 %). Note that the Sigma BH scaler is prescaled by 10.
- Dimuon features :
- ============== dimuon reconstruction efficiency
- ============== Reconstruction rates after TRACK and VERDET
- ============== Signal over background ratio
- ============== Number of J/psi (unweighted) per Sigma BH (should be around .24E-6 for standard 1996 target)
- ============== Look at histograms 400 to 405 in mobylnn.hstore
- Upstream detectors :
Checking histograms :
Histograms can be easily checked using /afs/cern.ch/group/wf/mobs/outmob.kumac (to be updated very soon!)
- General histograms (mobylnn.hstore, mobgen.kumac)
- Histograms for BH control (bhlnn.hstore, outmob.kumac)
- Histograms for target control (tgtlnn.hstore, outmob.kumac)
- Histograms for calo control (calolnn.hstore, outmob.kumac)
- Histograms for ZDC control (zdclnn.hstore, outmob.kumac)
- Histograms for multiplicity detector control (muldlnn.hstore, outmob.kumac not yet implemented)
- Histograms for trigger and spectrometer multiplicities (triglnn.hstore, outmob.kumac)
