Second scenario: "Solar+Atmospheric"

The threefold maximal mixing scenario [60, 61] assumes a democratic (i.e. 1/3, 1/3, 1/3) flavour content for the neutrino mass eigenstates. The "large" is basically constrained by the atmospheric neutrino data in the range relevant for LBL experiments. The "small" is weakly constrained by solar neutrino data to be below . The Homestake and Kamiokande data cannot be fit simultaneously in this scenario [62].

The LSND results (and, in general, any evidence of oscillations with in the range) cannot be accommodated in this framework, which is anyway compatible with the other negative searches at accelerators and reactors [60, 62].
