If you want to publish on our server www.cern.ch and you're working on a NICE PC,
please follow the instruction below. Please note that you need an account
on www.cern.ch and wwwlab.cern.ch. To ask for one, please contact
www.support@cern.ch
Procedure to install the client for Microsoft Network
NICE uses a "Lanmanager" file server, not a Netware one. Thus you
have to install the client in order to use it.
Go to : Control Panel | Network
If the line "Client for Microsoft Networks" appears in the list, go to
step n. 2.
Otherwise :
Click on "Add..." and choose "Client". Then "Manufacturer : Microsoft"
"Network Client: Client for Microsoft Network". Then click on "OK".
Please note that: if asked, keep older files from your drive,
don't overwrite them with the ones it wants to install.
Then restart the computer.
Connecting to www / wwwlab
Go to : Programs | Windows Explorer and then choose :
Tools | Map Network Drive
Type in the "path" field : \\www\cernweb1%username where username is your login name on the machine wwwlab. You can omit it (and the %)
if your NICE95 login name is the same as your wwwlab login.
You will be aksed for a password, which is obviously the one you type to
connect to wwwlab.
Now the document root of the web server is accessible as a Windows Drive
(the first free when you map the network drive, usually D:).
You can browse the directories, but you will only have write access to
your usual directories.
