This presentation is a response to a suggestion to make HTML the future format for documents at CERN.
Use the arrows at the top to navigate in the set of slides. The text at the bottom of each slide is a further clarification of the points shown.
Please note:
- The subject is the protection of important documents against access failure in the future. I do not address the formats for small, temporary documents such as daily e-mails, small notes, reminders etc.
- The first recommendation is to prepare for a model based on simple encoding with strict separation of structure, content and presentation.
- The second recommendation is to address the education in content structuring at the same time as or before the introduction of document production techniques.
The presentation exposes the problems, solutions and the reason for the recommendations.
