If you have deleted a file or a directory from www's local disk or you
you need to recover files from www's backup, please use the following procedure:
Log into www.cern.ch with your username and password.
Go into the directory where the file(s) or the subdirectory you want
to restore were located.
Run the command recover ; a prompt (">") will appear and
you'll be inside the program that loads items from the backup system.
Do ls
to check whether the file(s)/subdirectory(ies) you need are
there or not.
Note that you can can use all the options valid for the UNIX "ls" command .
If they don't appear in the result of the ls command,
write to www.support@cern.ch.
If they appear in it, create the list of items to restore ("recover list")
with the following command: add [name ...]
where "name" is the name of the file/subdirectory to recover.
Please, note that if a directory is specified, that directory
and all of its descendent files are added to the recover list.
You can check the recover list, typing list .
If you're satisfied with the list you created, then do recover .
If you are not, use the command delete [name ...] to delete items from it.
Please, note that if a directory is specified, that directory and all its descendents
are deleted from the list.
The restoring operation may take a while.
Once it will be finished, the prompt (">") will appear. Then
type exit to quit the program.
Please note that you can always read the man page of the comman recover , doing
from the shell prompt : man recover
