/W3dir/Logfiles
. During one month we keep a separated daily log file which name is: httpd.YYMMDD.log where YY are two last digits of the year, MM the month and DD the day.
So, for example the log file for the day 19/9/94 will be: /W3dir/Logfiles/httpd.940919.log
/W3dir/YourWeb
and the URLs to your pages all start with http://www.cern.ch/YourWeb
. So you can create "yourWebLogFile" as follows:
grep "\/YourWeb" /W3dir/Logfiles/httpd.YYMMDD.log > /home/user/yourWebLogFile.logUse this "/home/user/yourWebLogFile.log" in point 2 as log file to analyze. This will make you to get the results much faster as the log file used is much smaller.
Example: To append the files 940101, 940102 and 940103:prompt> cat httpd.940101.log > /home/user/tmp.log prompt> cat httpd.940102.log >> /home/user/tmp.log prompt> cat httpd.940103.log >> /home/user/tmp.log ..... Filling the form specifying
/home/user/tmp.log
as the log file to analyze. .... prompt> rm /home/user/tmp.log
