A search is performed for charged Higgs bosons predicted by various extensions of the Standard Model using the data collected by the OPAL experiment at sqrt(s)=189 - 209 GeV between 1998 to 2000, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 620 pb. The fully hadronic (H^+ H^- -> qqqq), semi--leptonic (H^+H^- -> qq tau nu_tau) and leptonic (H^+H^- -> tau nu_tau tau nu_tau) final states are explored. In combination with previous searches at lower energies, charged Higgs bosons, within the framework of models with two complex Higgs field doublets, are excluded up to a mass of 75.5 GeV at the 95 % confidence level independent of the branching ratio BR(H^+- -> tau nu_tau), assuming BR(H^+- -> qq) + BR(H^+- -> tau nu_tau) = 1.
