Gluing

ABC 130 Hybrids 3 & 4 were glued by hand using the microlitre pipette. _ (TBA) microlitres of glue was chosen based on weight of the glue, compared with the weight of glue for the five dot pattern used for gluing ABC 130 Hybirds 1 & 2.

After investigating the glued ASICs under our microscope, we could see a thin band of glue leaking out of the ASIC, confirming that we had full coverage of glue underneath the ASIC. It was nice to see that we can accomplish this when gluing by hand, since previously we have only done this using the pick and place machine.

The photo below shows one of the hybrids glued in this batch, before and after placing and curing the ASICs. Since the ASICs are glass, you can also see by eye (without the microscope) that glue coverage beneath the ASICs is very good.

note: one of the ASICs only had half of the glue cure, but this did not happen for any of the others, so seems to have been a fluke ...

note #2: these hybrids were glued by Nico! smile
