This page is mostly a collection of private notes for organizing work on the ATLAS MDT Phase 2 "Hit Extractor" board/system.

The hit extractor system must perform the following functions:

  • Receive all data from MDTs at up to 400kHz per tube
    • About 1100 MDT chamber output streams
    • Probably (2) 4.8Gb/s GBT links per chamber
  • Receive pre-trigger hit information from RPC/TPC sector logic
    • How many fibers? What rate?
  • Send MDT hits within time window to MDT trigger processor
    • How many fibers? What rate?
  • On LxA (L1A? L0A?), send data to DAQ (1MHz LxA rate?)
    • How many fibers? What rate?
