News:

Phd student from insight network just signed her contract with INFN today. Will start working next month; will work toward applying deep learning techniques in BPH

Statistics for physics workshop on advanced stat methods for Physics and Astrophys. Also public conference on Tue.

Roberto is officially spokeperson since 1st sept.

Framework & production

Analysis

B physics

Mario stepped down as convener, and Greg started as new co-convener.

Physics Coordination compiled a list of topic for CMS week (Budapest), which includes either a talk from P5' or BsJPsiPhi.

Charged Higgs to top-beauty

Dibosons, VZ resonance (V=W,Z)

4B full hadronic

CWR ended; replied to all comments. No real complaints so far but no official Green Light yet.

Lots of improvements in the studies from Pablo, aiming to publish soon (targeting submission to journal by the end of the month).

Heavy New Physics

Pre-approval 2 weeks ago.

Replied to the various questions during the past few days.

Some delays in the pre-approval Green Light (non-related to the status of the analysis).
Starting iterating with the ARC. Aiming to have the result ready for the Yellow Report

VH SM

Siew Yan is sitting together with Ugo about rare occurrences in the nanoAOD production in Jets with more than 2 leptons within the list of PFcandidates.

Same sign dileptons

EPR

SiewYan working on SHERPA validations (still in process).

Trigger(less)

The system put together by PD + Andrea Triossi has been put in production with the small Muon chambers used for the LEMMA testbeam. Fast readout without trigger to the order of 10s of MB/s. All worked fine.
Working together with DAQ and TSG group (working on the integration of the fast readout in GlobalMuonTrigger). Next steps: pass the data read out by the system to a big-data like system (also students + INFN computing people involved on this).
We have been asked to report about the results of the test at a Trigger meeting.
Small chambers in LNL will continue to be used as testbed for all these developments.

Detector

DT

Start taking data at GIF++ for the test of the material outgassing using monotubes.

Daniele Fasanella et al working on the monotubes downstream to DT chambers in P5 (MB4). Preliminary studies show that the radiation at P5 is less prone to cause ageing than the one from the photons in GIF++.

DTageing is now simulated in SW (still in validation) for ageing studies involving the simulation of aged detector.

Luminosity & Bril

PLT installed a new set of thresholds to recover inefficiencies.
New overall calibration on the norntag to model HF ageing.

Timing Layer

Today there is the vote of Italy MTD representative (N. Cartiglia / D. Del Re).
