+PCR needed to enter Switzerland. Other test after 4 days NOT needed anymore, test before returning. + Lucia Silvestris will be in PD on Feb 7-8th for the CMS-ITa upgrade coordination. Will meet the group, probably on the 7th.

+Enrico: last week presented at the BSF meeting the results of the SS tagger. Changed approach and abandoned the idea of direct tager calibration (not enough stat in Bs->Ds pi and too much background in Bs**). Two paths ahead: use B0 and apply a syst; use another tagger and refer to the efficiency of that one.

+Rocco: Datacards for the generation of the background samples have been ready for ages, still waiting for the approval by the GEN conveners.

+Tom: Evjin thesis work going on, need to rush for the deadline. A student has been selected for a 6-month fellowship to work with Giles on ML. In contact with several students from India who are searching for an external supervisor for a master thesis (students with particle physics and ML background)

Timing Layer

+ Tests going on both in VI and in PD. Fridge basically ready for the testing of the new circuit. First measurements with the new cold plate do not seem to show improvements in terms of DeltaT between hottests and coldest point (stil above 2 C).

+ GIF: irradiation going on but somewhat parasitically. Chamber behind other detectors and ~15m far away from source.
