CMSSW @ FNAL Tutorial 26. June 2007

Introduction

  • The CMSSW@FNAL tutorial is meant for the early beginner to learn about software and computing tools in CMS.
  • The tutorial should give the user insight on how to use the CMS software framework CMSSW to carry out analysis tasks and use and develop reconstruction and other software components. The user should also learn how to use the various computing tools to process events in a parallel and distributed way.
  • The day-long tutorial consists of an introductory part held as a talk and a hands-on part where the users follow a provided TWiki to learn about CMSSW. The hands-on part is interactive, participants will produce and compile code and can/should ask questions.
  • The participants are required to have a valid FNAL computing account with login access to the cmsuaf/cmslpc.
  • To participate in the hands-on part of the tutorial, the user is required to bring his own laptop and be able to login to the cmsuaf/cmslpc and open X windows. A limited number of public terminals is available for participants who cannot bring their own laptop.
