Table of CMS T2 sites

I'm basing this on the document that Patty sent me with what are supposedly all the WLCG T2 sites. I'm trying to straighten out how we list sites within CMS, i.e. all sites within a federation should be broken down and given names. Even still, the granularity could be a bit funny, e.g. Florida is running at least two head nodes, I think three.

Notes:

• WLCG names in () are those not explicitly called out in the WLCG list.
• IIHE appears to be a joint effort of VUB and ULB; that is probably just one site.
• The WLCG lists refers to a "China" site; in CMS it appears to be known as "Beijing".
• WLCG doesn't have Hungary; we do, as "Budapest".
• WLCG doesn't have Estonia; we do, as "Estonia".
• WLCG doesn't have Brazil; we do, as "UERJ" and "SPRACE".
• WLCG doesn't have Greece; we do, as "Demokritos".
• I think I identified IHEP, ITER, JINR and PNPI as four Russian sites (WLCG unclear).
• India is also confusing.
• SITECONF doesn't identify tier, so some guessing there as to which sites are T2...there may be T2 sites in SITECONF that I cannot identify, and thus aren't listed.
• All four GRIF sites are called GRIF in SITECONF, and all have both individual entries and a combined entry as GRIF in SiteDB.
• Two Florida entries in SITECONF are all called Florida, one is UFlorida-EO.
• In SITECONF there is a CIEMAT directory, but no JobConfig area; this is in T2_Spain instead.
• SiteDB lists all three active Belgian sites as just one, "Belgium".
• SiteDB lists all four active UK-London sites as just one, "London".
• SiteDB lists all four Russia sites as just one, "Russia," which also seems to (incorrectly) include HIP.
• The dashboard uses yet a different set of names, SAM tests too. I didn't even try to go there.

Modest proposal:

• Sites should have a single, uniform name across SiteDB, SITECONF and PhEDEx (not to mention the dashboard):
• Propose a convention of T2_Nation_Site, which will allow reasonable parsing of the name so we can break down sites by tier, nation, and site. The final term can be some sort of compound word that helps reflect federations.
  • Fails when a nation has a single T2 and wants to be known by the nation name?
• Break down the federations so that every physical institute has a single unique entry.
  • Might be a political problem for some sites/nations? France clearly has an issue with this, Italy doesn't appear to. We need to understand this before we can really proceed.
• Don't get too hung up on what WLCG says, although we should do something about nations not in WLCG.
• We should query institutes that show absolutely zero activity yet to see if they are going to be in or not.
• Final column is my proposed names for use in three areas. I think I count 48 semi-active T2 sites according to this scheme?
• Propagate this into the dashboard and SAM if at all possible.
• Need to see how much upheaval this would all cause.
