CMS Temporary Web Cameras

Why

The CMS Temporary Web Camera Service (VacTankTV) is a temporary service to allow overview of the activities happen mainly during Technical Stops. Its content therefore accomodates to the ongoing activities and the page layout changes by time. In order to allow quick check even from smartphones, these cameras and their webpage is accessible from the GPN network.

How does it work

The page contains snapshots of the cameras connected. These snapshots are reloaded automatically in every 4-5 seconds. By clicking on any of the pictures, the live stream of the corresponding camera appears.

How to use

What if you are not at CERN

In this case first you have to connect to the CERN Terminal Server.
  • To do so you will have to use either Microsoft Remote Desktop (native in Windows, or freely accessible for Mac OS), or any preferred remote desktop client software (plenty for Linux).
  • Log on to cerntsnew.cern.ch with your CERN credentials
  • From the terminal server desktop start the browser and open any of the webpage URLs written above
  • If userid and password is required use 'user' and leave the password field empty
