DijetStringResonance
Introduction
This page is aimed to provide information about dijet resonance signal expected in the low-scale string theory. The validation plots produced from the string resonance samples are also included for the ATLAS official production.
Dijet String Resonance
The low-scale string theory with extra dimensions predicts the presence of string excited states, which could manifest as a resonance in the dijet invariant mass distribution at the LHC. There has been a number of theoretical papers published already, for example
arXiv:1008.4989. In this paper several techniques have been discussed to differentiate the string signal from other dijet resonance models. There was a presentation given by the author in the Exotic Dijet meeting (
link).
Generator
CalcHEP v2.5.6
is used as the event generator. The author of the
arXiv:1008.4989 made a private modification to the
CalcHEP code to enable the string resonance amplitude calculation in addition to the standard model processes in pp collisions at the LHC. The details of the modification and example codes can be found in
author's web page.
Validation
The following signal samples with 5 different string scales have been produced with the modified
CalcHEP v2.5.6
for the validation. The cross sections reported in the table are the cross sections for the events that passed the acceptance cuts.
