Efficiencies for the different sectors

The lvl1 trigger has 32 sectors, which are more ore less located on in a cirkel around the beam. On this page the efficiencies of the different trigger sectors are shown. The table shows the efficiencies for all sectors. The efficiency is highest for sectors 7, 8, 23 and 24. These are the sectors on top and bottom of ATLAS. For these sectors the efficiency is plotted against the trackparameters.

We can demand that the cosmic is detected by 2 sectors b.e 7 & 23 or that more then 1 sector may detect it 7 or 23. The efficiencies for these cases are also shown.

New files with 64 sectors.

In real life there are 32 sectors in the front and back of ATLAS, 64 in total. Measurements were done with cosmic rays during which only sector 39 was active. The distributions of the truth parameters and the efficiency vs these parameters are plotted in the files:

  • truth_distr_muVol_sec39.gif
  • truth_distr_sctVol_sec39.gif
  • truth_distr_trtVol_sec39.gif
  • eff_muVol_sec39.gif
  • eff_sctVol_sec39.gif
  • eff_trtVol_sec39.gif

the data for these plots was taken from:

  • muVol_noField.aan.root
  • sctVol_noField.aan.root
  • trtVol_noField.aan.root

which were made on 30-06-07 and 01-07-07

I have obtained the following values for the efficiency of sector 39:

VOL tot number of evnts number of evts in 39 eff
Mu 18436 1172 0.064
SCT 1910 285 0.149
TRT 1846 251 0.136

The efficiencies for all the sectors for the new MU file are given in the table sec_eff_trig.txt!!! More comment will follow.
