E/gamma HLT sub-group

Mandate of the sub-group

The e/gamma-HLT sub-group is in charge of developing, maintaining and implementing (in confDB) the triggers for electrons and photons, in particular single and double electron/photon triggers adequate for physics analyses and as well as triggers for measuring the properties of electron and photons, e.g. Z, Upsilon and J/psi triggers for tag and probe studies.

It should also implement and optimize the cross triggers which are relevant for physics channels with electrons, e.g. electron + MET, electron + HT, e + mu, ... as requested by the PAGs through their Physics Trigger Group (PTG). The work will be carried out in coordination with the PTG of the relevant PAGs/POGs which will assign person-power to this task. The above tasks imply optimizing the L1 seeds, the electron/photon selection criteria, and their energy thresholds.

To ensure the presence of efficient triggers in the data taking at high luminosity, this group will be also in charge of improving of the online reconstruction and selection algorithms to make them close to that of the offline reconstruction. It should take care of optimizing the HLT path timing for the e/gamma triggers and cross triggers involving electrons and photons. Finally, the sub-group will be in charge of the validation of the e/gamma-HLT in the Full & Fast simulations, of OpenHLT, and of ensuring that the DQM is fulfilling the e/gamma-HLT needs.

All the above tasks will be carried out in coordination with the TSG; in particular one representative of the group will attend the TSG meetings.
