SCT End-Cap DAQ Setup in SR1 End-Cap Area

Introduction: PCs and ROD crates

There are two DAQ PCs in the end-cap area, one (PCPHSCTR05) connected to the bottom ROD crate in the rack and the other (PCATSCT06) connected to the top ROD crate. For the reception testing of EC C, the bottom ROD crate and thus PCPHSCTR05 is being used.

The three RODs are located in slots 7, 8 and 9 of the crate.

Directory Structure

All the SCTRODDAQ code is located in the directory /daqsoft/sct. All tests at CERN - of the individual barrels, the complete barrel, the endcaps, etc - use the same compiled code found in this area.

There is an end-cap specific setup script "setup_endcap2.sh" which must be sourced cleanly at the start of each new session. This includes the path of the configuration xml file being used, currently one per disk (plus individual module files x-included therein). Other things such as the place to save data (currently /work/pcphsctr03/endcap2/saved_data) also specified in the setup script.

The configuration files are found in /daqsoft/sct/configs stored by disk number. The original files from Liverpool can be found here though the main xml file for each disk has been updated to reflect the more recent DAQ system at CERN and saved as /DiskX/DiskX.xml from this directory.

The location of the xml file (hence disk) in use must also be specified in the SctEnvironment.data.xml file found in the /daqsoft/sct/oks/pcphsctr05 directory.

Running

Running the DAQ should be the same as at Liverpool: 1. ./start to launch 2. click "boot" to start the DAQ processes 3. click "configure" to read in the xml

Some errors are seen on the first startup of a new configuration but will go away on a second attempt!
