Dear colleagues,

I would like to announce that next week there will be a special PRS meeting dedicated to the topic of energy-flow. The date and time is Wednesday, 20 July, at 15h CERN time. The available CERN room is 40-R-A10, but we expect participants to be able to connect via VRVS as well (room "Storm" booked). The preliminary and still-evolving agenda can be found here: http://agenda.cern.ch/fullAgenda.php?ida=a054570 Please contact me if you would like to make a presentation.

The purpose of the meeting is to kick-off an energy-flow forum that spans across PRS. The overall idea is to make the best combined use of the Tracker, ECAL, HCAL, and Muons to reconstruct particles and clusters in the detector to improve global energy measurements, jet finding, etc. Such work has been done previously at experiments at LEP, HERA, and the Tevatron for example. So the goal of the meeting is to briefly review some previous energy-flow work from other experiments, summarize past and current work at CMS, and discuss how we should proceed in this area. A follow-up workshop on this topic is planned sometime in the Fall.

For those interested in energy-flow, you are welcome to attend. Also, a new e-mail list, cms-eflow, has been created to which you are invited to subscribe.

Regards, Darin
