Personal Details

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow.

My PhD was completed under the supervision of Prof. Glen Cowan, focusing on Higgs to bb decays and the use of the matrix element method in the HTop (dilepton ttHbb) analysis.

I am currently involved in the Run 2 dilepton ttH(bb) analysis, was the Top Group MC contact for 18 months and currently the Top Reconstruction subgroup convenor.

Useful Notes For CERN Users

Accessing EOS at your home insititute

If you have afs access at your home institution, it is likely that you can use eos there too.

Typically you would need:

setupATLAS
localSetupEmi # This allows certificate authentication within ROOT if required
source /afs/cern.ch/project/eos/installation/atlas/etc/setup.sh
export EOS_MGM_URL=root://eosatlas.cern.ch

After these lines, you should be able to call eos and see your root location (defined by EOS_MGM_URL).

It is also possible to load files from eos into ROOT with:

TFile* f = TFile::Open("root://eosatlas.cern.ch//eos/atlas/......")

This line sometimes requires a GRID certificate authentication so run voms-proxy-init -voms atlas if you haven't already and you get an error.
The Emi setup ensures that there are certificates available to authenticate your own against for this access route.

Hey presto! Accessing EOS somewhere other than lxplus.

My Personal Preferences

  • Show tool-tip topic info on mouse-over of WikiWord links, on or off:
    • Set LINKTOOLTIPINFO = off

  • Preference for the editor, default is the WYSIWYG editor. The options are raw, wysiwyg:
    • Set EDITMETHOD = rawedit

  • More preferences TWiki has system wide preferences settings defined in TWikiPreferences. You can customize preferences settings to your needs: To overload a system setting, (1) do a "raw view" on TWikiPreferences, (2) copy a Set VARIABLE = value bullet, (3) do a "raw edit" of your user profile page, (4) add the bullet to the bullet list above, and (5) customize the value as needed. Make sure the settings render as real bullets (in "raw edit", a bullet requires 3 or 6 spaces before the asterisk).
