How to reach KEK
From Narita Airport (NRT), we recommend you to take a bus ("Airport Liner NATT'S"; 100 min.) to reach Tsukuba-center bus terminal, and then to
transfer to a local bus ("Tsuku-Bus" or "Kantetsu-Bus"; 25 min.) to reach KEK.
There could be a few tips which help you along coming to KEK from the airport:
- NATT'S bus (between Narita Airport and Tsukuba-center bus terminal) runs only 9 times per day (i.e. 1.5-2 hours interval), so, please check NATT'S timetable in advance.
- KEK is known to locals as "Koh-eh-nel-ghi ken-cue-kikoh" in Tsukuba city and NOT as "KEK". So that, the bus stop in front of KEK is also called "Koh-eh-nel-ghi ken-cue-kikoh".
For more detailed information, please look below and also have a look on
KEK's access information.
Narita Airport to Tsukuba-center bus terminal
There are two terminals in Narita Airport (Terminal-1 and -2), so, please be aware to which terminal your flight arrives.
The bus stop is located right outside of Narita Airport terminal. Tickets from Narita Airport to Tsukuba-center bus terminal
are available at the "Keisei Bus" ticket counter located in the arrival lobby. The fare is 2,540 yen for an adult, and 1,270 yen for a child.
Bus stop number is #8 at Terminal-1, and #10 at Terminal-2, as of Jun 2006. Check the latest information at the ticket counter
before you go outside of the lobby. The bus is bound for "Tsuchiura Station".

We recommend you to print
Timetable and details by KEK Users Office
out and bring it with you.
Both buses leave from Tsukuba-center bus terminal but from different bus stop numbers as follows:
- Tsuku-Bus
- "Hokubu-Shuttle-Bus" route, bus stop number at the Tsukuba-center is #3.
- There are three bus stops form Tsukuba Center bus terminal to KEK (Koh-eh-nel-ghi ken-cue-kikoh) bus stop.

- NATT's : 8:50 (Tsukuba Center) -> 10:30 (Narita Airport)

Foreign currency exchange and international ATMs
Currency exchange
We recommend you that it will be most convenient to exchange currency already at Narita Airport.
There are banks and post offices at Tsukuba, however, we are not sure whether they accept Russian Rubles
(it seems not the case as written in their homepages). Unfortunately, there is no bank inside KEK.
At Tokyo downtown, there are many places where we can exchange money amongst which the followings are probably
most convenient for us.
- Travelex : Akihabara shop
Akihabara is the station where Tsukuba Express train (which runs between Tokyo and Tsukuba) arrives.
- "Station Concierge Tokyo" inside of Tokyo Station
International ATM Service
You can withdraw cash with your credit or cash cards from international ATM machines at Post offices and 7-Eleven convenience stores.
You can find post offices and 7-Eleven stores easily in most of places in Japan.

Cards bearing the VISA, VISAELECTRON, PLUS, MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus, American Express, Diners Club, JCB, China Unionpay and DISCOVER can make withdrawals at Japan Post Bank ATMs. There are two post offices near KEK (about 20 min. on foot from KEK).
- 7-Eleven Convenience Stores (Seven Bank)
Foreign credit and cash cards (VISA, PLUS, MasterCard, Maestro, Cirrus, American Express, JCB, UnionPay ) can be used at 7-Eleven Convenience Stores (Seven Bank) ATMs. There is also a 7-Eleven near KEK (about 20 min. on foot from KEK).
