LVL1 di-muon trigger analysis with release 10.0.1 and the overlap flags

LVL1 trigger results for phi overlaps with new MuCTPI code

Release 10.0.1 + TrigT1TGC-00-00-50 + RPCcabling-00-03-32 + Muctpi-00-00-27:

Single muon events - Rome-Initial layout "Q":

    • 1000 single muons pt= 20, 30 GeV

Remarks

The main conclusion concerning the di-muon studies with the overlap flags (RPCcabling-00-03-32) is that it seems that the flags are working well in the barrel region, where the eta overlap is expected high (0.8<eta<1.2) i.e. somewhere around eta=1. For the layout P03 the di-muon rate for 1K muons is found around 0.88±0.4%. For the rest of the eta areas as well as for layout Q, there was no obvious improvement on the di-muon rates with the overlap flags. The above results were confirmed with higher statistics of 10 K muons and pt= 6 GeV in 0.8<eta<1.2 where di-mu rate tot = 1.1% and di-mu barrel rate= 0.99±0.13% i.e. less than 1%!

Something new that observed for the EC region with TrigT1TGC-00-00-50 and affects the total di-muon rate though, is that it gives now higher di-muon rate than before. For layout Q and pt 20 GeV the di-muon rate is found around (5±1)%, where the efficiencies are back to normal (85±5)%.However, for the low pt muons of pt= 6 GeV the di-muon rate is found (2.5±1)% and a low trigger efficiency was found of about (60±5)%.

It seems that the phi overlap flags are not working properly with MuCTPI, under investigation.

It seems that there is improvement with the new Muctpi-00-00-27 but still needs more detailed work for phi overlaps.
