Help How To: Instal FedKit

  1. Get the source code:
    1. Set the CVSROOT variable:
      •  export CVSROOT=:kserver:isscvs.cern.ch:/local/reps/tridas
    2. Get a Kerberos token:
      •  kinit -4
    3. Checkout the FedKit code:
      •  cvs co TriDAS/daq/fedkit/
  2. Compile the code:
    • make
  3. Install the driver:
    •  make installmodule

Bonus

  • depmode -- program to generate modules.dep and map files
  • modprobe -- program to add and remove modules from the Linux Kernel
  • insmod -- simple program to insert a module into the Linux Kernel
  • Location of the module : /lib/modules/2.6.9-78.0.1.EL.cernsmp/kernel/drivers/misc/fedkit.ko
  • ntpd should be running to make sure kerberos token is usable. After start needs some time to update the time.
  • ntpdate does not work...(I always got "ntpdate[9294]: no servers can be used, exiting")
