Rhad

This shower shape is defined as:

"The ratio of transverse energy in all of the hadronic calorimeter to the transverse energy of the electromagnetic cluster"

Rhad is not defined in the D3PD's and has to be derived. There are different definitions (depending on who you ask). The definitions for photons that I know are:

  • float ph_rhad = ph_Ethad / ph_Et;
  • float ph_rhad = ph_Ethad / ( ph_cl_E / cosh(ph_etas2) )

This plot shows the values of Rhad in the two definitions described above, using the dataset mc12_14TeV.159020.ParticleGenerator_gamma_Et7to80.merge.NTUP_COMMON.e1948_s1682_s1691_r4708_r4643_p1674 (single photons no pileup) after the application of fudge factors.
