eGamma Workshop 2014

Here is a record of everything that seemed relevant to me personally from the eGamma workhop this year.

Motivation for Photon ID in Run 2

There were several talks about the needs and requirements of the photons for Run 2. I will list the appropriate things here:

Higgs - Think that the Photon ID is essential, and will be happy if we can achieve similar results like we had in Run 1. Basically meaning ~ percent level accuracy.

Standard Model - Photon ID is less dominant here than other factors (such as the energy scale), so 'a few percent is okay'

Top - Don't have any special requirements for Photon ID. Willing to follow our recommendations.

SUSY - NON STANDARD PHOTONS: Requires 2 non pointing loose photons for analysis (non-pointing means do not come from primary vertex). For this they would like a trigger with lower thresholds of 25 GeV for both photons (instead of current 35GeV leading 25GeV subleading)

- STANDARD Photons: Currently we only provide Etcone40 for isolation, which is different to what SUSY uses. Can we do it for different isolations? Need both loose and tight menus for SUSY.

Exotics - Need photons at very high Et. Can we bin the photons in Pt? Can we improve the uncertainties at high Pt?
