Events this week:

• eGammaWorkshop2014

• Finished writing my talk for the eGamma workshop.
• Gave said talk at the workshop
• Had very interesting discussions with Sebastien Kahn.
• Giovanni Marchiori (Photon ID sub-convener) pointed out that my choice of selection cuts for the background was incorrect.
  • The cuts I used were as follows for background:
    • ph_pt > 20000 (MeV)
    • ph_truth_matched == 0
    • abs(ph_truth_type) = 11
  • This was wrong because this stops true photons which come from other processes (for example, pi zero particles - which make up 99% of the relevant background
  • The correct cuts according to Giovanni are:
    • ph_pt > 20000 (MeV)
    • !(ph_truth_type==22 && abs(ph_mother_truth_type)<100)
  • To this end, I have restarted the JF17 skimming to try to cut correctly.The new skim files will be called user.phamnett.egamma.pileupstudy.skim.background.e1313_s1682_s1691_r47*_r4643_p1674.v6

• Plan is to work more or less on the X0Paper full time.
• Can look at some interesting things in PID:
  • Plots of shower shapes for signal and background after cuts from all the other shower shapes are applied
