Tag Selection

Tag electrons are selected using tight criteria. We use two different "Tag" definitions, i.e. WP80_Tag and WP95_Tag. The conditions are defined below:
  • WP80_Tag
    • Should be gsfElectron with supercluster |η| < 2.5, and et > 10 GeV.
    • Should have hadronicOverEm fraction < 0.15.
    • Should pass combined relative isolation criteria:
      • Barrel: combRelIso <0.07
      • Endcap: combRelIso <0.06
    • Should pass electron Identification Criteria:
      • Barrel: MissingHits ≤ 0, σiηiη<0.01, |Δ&phi|<0.06, |Δη|<0.004, HoE <0.04.
      • Endcap: MissingHits ≤ 0, σiηiη<0.03, |Δ&phi|<0.03, HoE<0.025.
    • Shoud Pass the HLT path of our interest
  • WP95_Tag
    • Should be gsfElectron with supercluster |η| < 2.5, and et > 10 GeV.
    • Should have hadronicOverEm fraction < 0.15.
    • Should pass combined relative isolation criteria:
      • Barrel: combRelIso <0.15
      • Endcap: combRelIso <0.1
    • Should pass electron Identification Criteria:
      • Barrel: MissingHits ≤ 1, σiηiη<0.01, |Δ&phi|<0.08, |Δη|<0.007, HoE<0.15.
      • Endcap: MissingHits ≤ 1, σiηiη<0.03, |Δ&phi|<0.07, HoE<0.07.
    • Shoud Pass the HLT path of our interest

Probe Selection

  • To obtain the denominator for the efficiency calculation, we use a probe collection (also called "AllProbes" collection) defined as follows:
    • All Probes
      • AllProbes_WP95 : Same as "WP95_Tag", but HLT conditions not applied.
      • AllProbes_WP80 : Same as "WP80_Tag", but HLT conditions not applied.
  • To obtain the numerator for the efficiency calculation, we have to define "passingProbes" and "failingProbes".
    • passing Probes
      • WP95 : Subset of the AllProbes_WP95 which PASS HLT conditions.
      • WP80 : Subset of the AllProbes_WP80 which PASS HLT conditions.
    • failingProbes
      • WP95 : Subset of the AllProbes_WP95 which FAIL HLT conditions.
      • WP80 : Subset of the AllProbes_WP80 which FAIL HLT conditions.

Variables and Binning

Variables used for plotting are gsfElectrons_Pt, SC_Et, SC_Eta with binning as:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pt/Et binned in (0,10,15,20,25,40,60,120)
|Eta| binned in (0,1.5,2.5)
Eta binned in (-2.5, -2.0, -1.5, -1.0, -0.5, 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, I am showing efficiency in the bins of Et and Eta (taken from likelihood fit of Z mass).

Conclusions

  • Used the official tag and probe software to obtain the electron trigger efficiency.
  • We observed that the results for the both the paths studied are statistically consistent.
  • We want to confirm that the results won't change much, if we take OR of both the paths to define the passing/failing probe collections. Still we are working on it.
