Rutgers VLQ 2016

We will post our plots and analysis results here together. We will attempt to keep it organized per individual student.

Overlay of Higgs window b' masses with background window b' masses

Above plot, zoomed into excess region

March 2016 (Brian):

Overlay of Higgs window b' masses with 98 GeV window b' masses

Overlay of Higgs window b' masses with 55 GeV window b' masses

Background in target b' mass region decreases with Higgs window. Working on code to ensure absolutely no overlap (since Chi^2 will technically accept up to 10 std devs of Higgs mass)

Background Estimation for 13 TeV 6 Jet Events

Background Estimation for 13 TeV 6 Jet Events (Zoomed)

The first plot is the background of 6 jet events in the 13TeV data. The second plot is just the first plot zoomed in. Last Wednesday (3/16), I noticed that when I constrained the mass windows to span [0,200], there seemed to a "build-up" of events at the highest mass window (this can also be seen in the first plot's very last mass window). For that reason, I have extended the mass windows to span [0,600] to see how the background behaved. Clearly, it is dying off gradually. I am unclear on how I might want to fit this.
