An Example

Event     1 2 3 4 5 6
Level 1 Decision 0 1 1 1 1 1 1
Level1 Prescale X 0 1 1 1 1 1
Level2 Prescale X X 0 1 1 1 1
Level 2 Decision X X X 0 1 1 1
Event Filter Prescale X X X X 0 1 1
Event Filter Decision X X X X X 0 1
    200 500 250 50 100 20 80

The total number of events which pass the level 1 decision is 1000, but only 8 of them are saved in the disk.

Without prescales, the efficiency would be 0.8*0.8=0.64. The number of events that could pass the trigger is 640, but due to a prescale

2x2x2=8, the number of events is 640/8=80.

Event     1 2 3 4 5 6
Level 1 Decision 0 1 1 1 1 1 1
Level1 Prescale X 0 1 1 1 1 1
Level2 Prescale X X 0 1 1 1 1
Level 2 Decision X X X 0 1 1 1
Event Filter Prescale X X X X 0 1 1
Event Filter Decision X X X X X 0 1
