Strangeness yields for different particles are shown at 40 A GeV/c
and 158 A GeV/c. Particles
having quarks in common with the nucleon (in this figure Λ and
Ξ-)
have similar yields for the two energies, whereas particles not
having any quarks in common with the nucleon (antiparticles and Ω)
have significantly lower yields for the lower beam energy.
All yields shown here are measured for the 42% most central collisions,
corresponding to four most central in 158 A GeV/c
data. The average number of wounded nucleons for these four classes
is 194. The yields are measured covering one unit of rapidty, centered at
mid rapidity, and extrapolated to full transverse momentum.
