Momentum measurement in an extended target stack

Figure:   Compact geometry for momentum measurement with emulsion plates.

Another method to perform momentum measurement with emulsion plates is to extend the target stack in the downstream direction with a set of special plates. These plates are mounted in three doublets, as shown in Fig. 14. The plates within a doublet are separated by 10 mm. The spacing between the doublets is 50 mm. This configuration allows for a crude momentum measurement of charged particles, with a very large acceptance, even without using the electronic detectors. This geometry can increase the acceptance in particular for large angle tracks.
