Diffusing spheres etc
Programme
EE-overlay-plots.C from Sasha Ledovskoy to overlay/show diffusing sphere regions etc with ROOT.
Hi Dave,
Attached is a ROOT macro that I use to plot various maps. It has minimum comments.
You can explore it by starting
> root -l
[] .L Plot.C
[] Test()
or use one of the pre-defined plots. For example, to plot map of Diffusing spheres:
> root -l
[] .L Plot.C
[] DrawDSsEEPM()
Examples:
EE-diffusing-spheres.png, get with root>
DrawDSsEEPM(). Shows regions of diffusing spheres, each serving ~200-220 fibres to around 8 supercrystals.
4 or 5 such diffusing spheres per sector of EE. 2 separate PN diodes should be monitoring each diffusing sphere region:
Test.png, get with root>Test(). Shows a single diffusing sphere region in a sector.
CheckDS.png. Get with root>CheckDS(). Shows, in colour, the number given to the diffusing sphere region in question:
DrawLMsEEP.png. Get with root>DrawLMsEEP(). Shows sectors driven by a single laser fibre from the service cavern.
VPT info for VPTs installed at point 5
Production specifications, first 16,000 tubes
- Photocathode quantum efficiency at 420 nm >= 0.15 [15%]
- DC current gain, B = 0 T, >= 7.0 with a photo-current of 10 nA
- Product, qe * gain = pg >= 1.4 but < 3.8
- Burn-in, I-final/I-initial > 0.9
- At B = 4 T, angle 15 degrees, ph_4T/ph_0T >= 0.75

EE VPT maps
VPT maps giving the VPT barcode value at each ix,iy location. Gives a rough estimate of how far along production the VPT was made.
- EEMvpt.root
- EEPvpt.root
- VPT low barcode numbers made from start of 2002
- VPT high barcode numbers, up to 16100, to end 2007
- 2nd production, 500 tubes (>barcode 16100) made in early 2008

- endcap_ly.txt: endcap_ly txt file from CalibCalorimetry/EcalTrivialCondModules/data/endcap_ly.txt gives ix,iy and EE xtal number - but all alphas set to 1.0.
- out_dump_GR_R_311_V2__All.log: out_dump_GR_R_311_V2__All.log gives alpha for all crystals in EB and EE, either 1.52 or 1.0. from Ferico Ferri on Sat 30.4.2011. How to get this info from cms-conddb given by Pierre Depasse, email 1May2011 (this hasnt worked for me yet on Windows7!):
You can also have a plot in PayloadInspector (http://cms-conddb.cern.ch/payload_inspector/),
asking for : Offline production account : ECAL for 31X
and the tag :
EcalLaserAlphas_test_prompt,
click on +, choose the (unique) IOV, then ask : "get plot".
More info in : https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/EcalDB. <== this has the useful lines list below:
How to view what is in the DB
Several tools exist to visualize what is in the DB.
the offline DB browser here here <==
or one can use command line tools like cmscond_list_iov described here <==
for ECAL we have another command line tool that is more powerful and it is described here <==
which allows also to plot and save to xml the records.
this link link here <== shows what is in the global tags
this link is a test page to show what is in the global tags and its evolution
the popcon web monitoring for the records updated via O2O
