HighThresholdCalibrationWithTestPulse

Introduction

This page will contain the tasks for the TRT High Threshold Calibration with Test Pulse. Resources, progress, and methods will also be listed on this Twiki. Go to Atlas.TrtDAQ#Documentation for more general documentation. For calibrating the low threshold, see Atlas.TrtHardwareCalibration.

Plots will be placed on the website: https://bhaney.web.cern.ch/bhaney/

Tasks

Importand to know:

  • Find out about the DAC/eV conversion (emailed Mitch about this).
  • While at CERN, try to do another calibration run, and if that works, then do more scans with different test pulse voltages to measure the gain of the amplifier.
  • Do Tag and Probe for muons and electrons to create efficiency vs. luminosity plots. Also plot efficiency vs. HT value.

Work towards completing calibration:

  • Plot the occ for the high threshold scan to check the distribution. i.e. find what function best fits the 50% occ point.
    • Figure out how to get numbers in occupancy rather than edge-rate.
    • Two guesses for the best-fit function are probably a straight line, or an inverse error function (like low threshold).
  • Write a script to fit the function over HT calibration scan.

Future work:

  • Scan over various test pulse values to see how/if the gain changes over different voltages due to radiation exposure.
  • Compare equalization results with particles (Narei's project) once the detector comes back online.
