Minutes (DRAFT.rev)

1. Approval of minutes and agenda

The minutes were approved and the agenda was accepted.

2. Matters arising and pending - Round Table tour

  • Meetings etc.: WW presented slides concerning the following topics: WW gave a presentation about cryogenic needs for SM18. BV confirmed WWs estimations for the lHe consumptions and mentioned that the line now consuming about 10g/s would consume a neglible amount if it would be renewed. WW reported about TTC meeting in Orsay, especially about two working groups. WW reported about the HOM mini workshop at CERN. The SNS solution for HOM damping (inter cavity connections provide the damping) might be suitable for SPL. WW presented news from SPL study. MTP approved by council. 11-13.11.09 Colaboration Meeting at CERN.
  • HIE-ISOLDE: MP reported about the HIE Isolde Review, which he described as nice and technical. MP presented plans for HIE Isolde cavity. Cavity shall be chemically treated and rinsed this week. Three weeks later the sputtering shall be done. This waiting period is possibly risky but necesarry due to the holiday planing of the persons who will perform the work. Action: Karl Schirm should be consulted.
  • SM18 Test place: OB said that the previous offer for a particle counter suitable for particles of sizes >0.5 μm is not valid any more, because this device is out of production. A device suitable for particles of sizes >1 μm would be available for approxumately half the price. The drawback of this machine would be that it is not mobile. In this case an option would be to buy two. 40 kSfr are avaible for particle counter(s). WW mentioned that the V3 magnetic compensation coils work. Within the next weeks there will be the first tests of a cavity from Saclay. OB reported that a LHC cavity contaminated with Waxil was recovered by rinsing and succesfully tested by PM. The perfomance of the recovered cavity was just in the specification.
  • Qadrupole resonator: TJ presented new results from Quadrupole resonator including measurements of Surface resistance, Critical RF field, London Penetration depths and thermal conductivity.

3. Next meeting and proposed agenda

The next meeting is planned to be held in 4 weeks 10th of August. The proposed agenda will be communicated later. OB proposes a presentation on crab cavity testing needs (just ahead of the crab cavity workshop).
