Minutes (DRAFT)

1. Approval of minutes and agenda

-The agenda was accepted.

-It was deceided to stick to the 4 week schedule for the SRF meetings with dedicated meetings in between, if needed.

2. News from HIE Isolde study

-MP reported from meeting with S. Bertulucci. They are now waiting for the approval by the research board for the HIE Isolde project. Scope of the project 42 cavities comprised in 6 cryomodules.

-Construction shall start in Jan 2010 and shall be finished in Dec 2014 (adjusted to the shutdown plans of LINAC4 in order not to have additional downtime for ISOLDE users).

-First cold tests will be carried out at TRIUMF.

-TR gave a presentation about the layout of cryostat insert, as foreseen for the RF tests in SM18.

-TR assumed that the cavity will be cooled down first and the thermal shielding later. This is not what is the optimum procedure for cooling down the cavities. Therefore a redesign is necessary -> Action TR

-WW, PM, VM and TR will meet on 27th October at SM 18 to investigate the vertical cryostat V5. -> Action WW

-It shall be checked wether there is enough space to place a pump in the bunker. -> WW, PM, VM and TR

-TR presented a design for the thermal anchoring of the RF cables in the cryostat insert. It was mentioned that the thermal losses in these cables are of electrical origin (about 10 W) and that the heat input by thermal conduction through the cables is much smaller. The ceramic providing the thermal anchoring has 50 Ohm wave impedance.

3. Next meeting and proposed agenda

The next meeting is planned to be held in 1 week, as scheduled some time ago. The proposed agenda will be communicated later.
