(Proposal)
Minimal mass module (Barrel).
Complying the strong desire to reduce the mass of the module (Barrel) from the
Jan-Feb 97 module,
the module convenors have had communications with the
community and come to a design.
This module has
a mass of 1.2%
and provides
(1) good thermal conduction to hybrid and to the lefthand-side
detector whose top-left corner is the runaway point,
(2) a good ridigity of the module by the BeO frame, and
(3) a long cooling contact for good heat transfer from cooling pipe.
A thermal runaway FEA result of this module (Model-8a)
is given by
T. Kondo,
together with other trials. The heat flux after 2x10^14 fluence is about
70 microW/mm^2 and this module clears the line with a good safety margin.
